What is a Bankruptcy Discharge?

A Bankruptcy Discharge is a court order releasing you from all your dischargeable debts and ordering creditors not to attempt to collect them from you. A debt that is dischargeable is one that you are released from and do not have to pay.

Some debts, however, are not released by a Chapter 7 discharge, and some persons are not eligible for a Chapter 7 discharge.
